Advice for Agilent job-seekers?Agilent is a great company to work for. My only advice would be to be as honest as possible during your interview. And make sure your lifestyle, values & goals are in line with Agilent’s values and work environment.
Tips for Innovating?I am a firm believer that everything can be done better. Just because a process is in place, does not mean it cannot be changed. I think it is up to each individual to not only recognize inefficiencies, but also strive to correct them. The status quo is a thing of the past. In order to move ahead and stay above our competitors we must never be satisfied with the status quo. Innovation is power, and everyone in Agilent has that power. What you get from Agilent is a factor of what you put in. Innovation is not only a benefit to Agilent; it should also be viewed as a benefit to the employees. The time wasted on complex inefficient processes could take away from an employee’s free time (i.e. family, friends, hobbies, etc.) and potentially add stress to their lives. Therefore, it is in everyone’s best interest to innovate.
What's best about working @ Agilent?Agilent’s casual work environment and flexible work arrangements create the ideal work environment for me. I love the fact that I can workout in the mornings and come into work at 9am. Often times I have early morning meetings with Germany or Japan. Being able to login from home allows me to not only fulfill my work obligations, but also keep up with my personal health goals. In the past year, my boyfriend was in a terrible car accident and did not have a car for a short time. Because I had flexibility in my work schedule, I was able to help my boyfriend and meet my work objectives. It is this understanding and flexibility that makes Agilent a great company to work for.
How about some of the projects you're working on?During my summer internship I worked on a project for the Manufacturing managers in MIBU (EMG). At that time, Agilent was phasing to Oracle ERP. I preformed a thorough analysis of the impact of switching from Legacy to Oracle on MIBU’s cost structure. I also put together a presentation, which was given to senior management, on the effects of the ERP change as well as the reporting options in the new ERP. In my full time position I have been able to participate in a number of projects which has given me the opportunity to work with different people, in different functions.
