| Logitech Presents
Agilent with Unprecedented Supplier Award
Logitech has presented Agilent with an award in recognition
of Agilent Technologies contribution to Logitechs
success in the optical mouse and PC video markets. Agilent
is the inventor, manufacturer and supplier of the optical
navigation sensor that Logitech uses in its optical mice,
and a key supplier of CMOS sensors for video applications.
Optical mice are enjoying increased acceptance in the market
because of the inherent precision and smooth tracking of a
mouse that does not depend on a wheel and ball mechanism.
Over the last three years, the relationship between Agilent
and Logitech
has grown stronger. To develop Cordless MouseMan® Optical,
the two companies collaborated to create a proprietary optical
chip that features a three-month battery life and 800 dots-per-inch
(DPI) resolution -- twice the resolution of current optical
sensors -- for greater accuracy on any surface. Agilent also
supplies image sensors, which are used in Logitechs
line of QuickCam® web cameras and ClickSmart® dual-mode
cameras. These cameras from Logitech enable digital photography,
video e-mail, stop frame animation and now instant messaging
with video.
The relationship between these two companies is truly
unique in the industry, said David Henry, executive
vice president of Logitechs Control Devices organization.
It involves a lot of talented people all over the world
who fast-tracked our optical mouse products to market, improving
our competitive position.
Logitech CEO, Guerrino De Luca, remarked that his company
had never before recognized a supplier in this way, but the
accomplishments that have resulted from Logitechs partnership
with Agilent merited such action. Citing Logitechs standing
in the marketplace and its continued growth during rough economic
times, De Luca commented, We wouldnt be in this
position without Agilent."
